After a cold & snowy day, we had a perfect day to go to the Grand Canyon. This was the first time either of us have ever been here. And Bennie’s first time here as well.
Saturday we took the Verde Canyon Train Ride. It was a 4 hour scenic ride through the canyon. We chose the first class car for our trip, great choice! They provided us with a appetizer bar stocked with a variety of wings, sandwiches, cheeses, and fried brownie bites. They were so good, they went perfectly with the red wine. During the day it was off & on rain but it was a great day & a great trip.
It’s date night! Friday night is date night for us. Lee came home, back to the RV, mid-afternoon. He needed to go back to a client’s house to check on the finished job so I rode with him. Once in the car & down the rode we began to smell something. Lee checked his shoes, looked to see if the guys had left some trash from lunch in the back seat, and found nothing.
We went into a couple of stores along the way, went to see the client, and still the odor in the car was terrible. We agreed tomorrow we had to clean the car out & clean the floor mats.
We then went to The Elephant Bar for dinner and met 2 wonderful ladies, Bonnie & Daphna. Had a great dinner, good company, a couple of cocktails. Then back into the stinky car…
Enough…what is that smell. We decided to get back out of the car and search for the cause. Have you ever had a moment that you just can’t control the stupid laughter? Well, this was one of those moments. We both went to the back of the car, opened the back lift gate. There it was. The culprit of all our odor. A bag of garbage Lee forgot to drop off at the dumpster this morning. We laughed for 10 minutes. I’m sure it was one of those “you had to be there moments”, but it was too too funny. SO, needless to say, went went straight to the dumpster…..with the windows down…..
We made it to Tucson, AZ just in time for the Full Time Family Rally. There were 37 families with 140 children. It was refreshing to hear all the children playing outside in the evenings. It reminded us of the “good ole days” when we would play outside as long as we could until dark or until our parents called for us to come in. What a great life style these families are sharing with their children.
The sunset was amazing Friday night. God really knows how to end a beautiful day.
We were back in Florida for 3 weeks to close on the house. Great to catch up with friends while we were there. We played Bunco, Hand & Foot, Poker & Domino’s. I went kayaking, shopping & out to eat with girlfriends. Caught some great shots of Eagles & eagle chicks. We got to go to Church at our home church & hear our awesome Pastor Carl teach.
After finishing up the house details, we’re back on the road to Tucson, AZ. On the way we made a stop in Tyler TX to drive the Azalea Trail. It had rained so much a lot of the azaleas were not as pretty as they had been, but they were still beautiful.
